This enotourism experience introduces us to the wine culture of the Matarranya and its surrounding territories as it has evolved during the past decades. These areas suffered greatly after the phylloxera plague that caused the loss of most of the vinestock. The great frost of 1961 and the subsequent uprooting of many centenary olive trees facilitated the creation of new vineyards, mostly local varieties as the red and white Garnachas. The modernization of vine-growing technology at the Priorat and later at the Terra Alta favoured the recent emergence of small wineries at the Matarranya. New entrepreneurs focused on sustainability and authenticity start growing quality wines for the common benefit.
We offer an enotourism visit to some bodegas and vineyards in the area, where some of the best wineries are located. The Mas de Torubio, Venta d´Aubert, Bodegas Crial or Demeter brands are local winemakers bent on producing the best and most authentic wines in the Matarranya, always searching for monovarieties or outstanding combinations to pair the best products of the region.
Our visit will start at Cretas/Queretes, where we will get acquainted with the processes and will taste the wines of the Matarranya.
With these enotourism experiences we get closer to a circular economy that we have been practicing for over 20 years now, weaving relationships with the entrepreneurial fabric of the territory that is committed to sustainability. We believe in our land and these experiences are an example, so you may feel part of the preservation efforts of our cultural and natural surroundings.
Our guides and star communicators are part of this very circular economy and will show you the essence of our territories.
