Hiking Through the Beceite Mountain Passes is a 2-day mountain trek that reproduces the journey of Francisco Loscos and José Pardo, two Aragonese botanists that inventoried the flora of Aragón in 1857.
Their trek or journey lasted several days. We propose two itineraries: hiking from Beceite to El Boixar and back from El Boixar to Beceite while crossing the mythical lands both botanists did in their 1857 expedition. We will discover the silent mountainscapes our leading characters explored, full of personal stories and experiences.

An 18 – 22 km average-to-high difficulty route with a 900 m positive slope, mainly directed to nature lovers and mountain trekkers.
Itinerary and program
Day 1:
Arrival at the village of Beceite, check-in at the Hotel La Fábrica de Solfa and briefing on the Hiking Through the Beceite Mountain Passes tour.
Day 2: Beceite – El Boixar
Transfer from Beceite to the opposite end of the Pena Reservoir. Hiking up the Beceite Mountain Passes to the old Sant Miquel del Port Chapel. The route goes on to the small village of El Boixar, an itinerary that crosses a territory that was inhabited by men untill the 1950s. Lodging at the Inn of El Boixar..
Day 3: El Boixar – Beceite
Transfer to the village of Fredes. We will start hiking down from the highest part of the Beceite Mountain Passes towards the Matarranya River, see its source and leave behing the Sant Miquel of Beceite Chapel till we reach the village. The route takes us to the heart of the Mountain Passes of Beceite, where we can enjoy the view of those natural sites eroded by the water: The Parrissal of Beceite.
